What Is Outpatient Alcohol & Substance Abuse Rehab?

outpatient alcohol rehab

In an outpatient rehab program, the individual lives at home and comes to the addiction center for treatment. This environment allows flexibility for an individual to stay connected with family and hold a job while receiving help.

Addiction recovery treatment varies from several hours per day to a few hours per week with group settings or individual counseling. Care Addiction Center offers:

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a six week program, with small individualized evening sessions from 6pm -9pm.

Outpatient

Outpatient Program (OP) is six hours or less per week, 2 days each week. It allows and individual to maintain a connection to treatment support, and is longer than the six week Intensive Outpatient treatment. The length of time it continues depends on the individual.

Individual Counseling

Available at the individual’s convenience, compassionate counselors work one-on-one with individual counseling to help in the most appropriate and effective ways for the individual.

Aftercare Program

A continuum of care, Aftercare is one hour each week for 6 -12 months after Intensive Outpatient or Outpatient treatment. It’s benefit stems from maintaining contact with the program and the others the individual has come to know.

What are the benefits of outpatient treatment?

  • An individual has the flexibility to continue working and have a job, whether it’s part-time or full-time.

  • An individual can stay connected with family, instead of isolated from them in an inpatient program.

  • It allows an individual to test coping strategies in their real life. On the other hand, inpatient programs don’t have outside, real life triggers that an individual can test coping strategies with - and sometimes it causes failure.
