What To Expect During Alcohol Treatment

alcohol addiction treatment starting point

Long term recovery for individuals suffering from the disease of alcoholism takes commitment from the individual and a caring, effective treatment center to make outpatient alcohol treatment a success.

Taking The First Step

The first step to alcohol rehab is to call or schedule an appointment for an evaluation and assessment.

Why?

Because a comprehensive assessment is crucial to appropriately place a patient in the most effective level of care. It is a combination of medical history, physical exam, and alcohol testing. Assessments are completed in our facility and are strictly confidential.

Is Addiction Treatment For Me?

Are you wondering if you have a drinking problem? Some common signs include:

  1. Tolerance or increased tolerance to alcohol and it’s effects.

  2. Needing more to get the desired effect.

  3. Going without alcohol leads to shakes, cravings, urges, psychosis, loss of control.

  4. Not being able to stick to limits you set yourself.

  5. Problems with loved ones or concern from family and friends due to drinking.

  6. Continued use despite health problems, decreased performance at work, missing family activities because you are preoccupied with drinking.

What To Expect

Intensive outpatient alcohol treatment at Care Addiction Center is six weeks long, centered on small, intimate and individualized sessions in the evenings.

We believe that there needs to be a comfortable and inviting environment for patients to share as well as be receptive to new ideas and skills. This is why we remain a small and intimate group for our treatment - between 4 to 8 individuals at any given time.

Through this perspective clients are empowered to share their history and gain strong connections with their peers and staff.

Counseling and therapy sessions have different modalities, including:

  1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - a practical approach to problem solving with the goal of exploring the relationship between one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

  2. Solution Focused Counseling - seeks to engage individuals, increase internal motivation and bring about behavioral change.

  3. Meditation & Guided Imagery - incorporating creative self-expression for those who might find it difficult to verbalize their thoughts and feelings.

  4. Didactic Group Therapy - with topical lectures, educational videos or other one-way presentations and large group discussions.

  5. Family Therapy - addressing the addiction in the context of the entire family and works to restore the health of both the individual, as well as those closest to them.

You can expect to participate in therapy sessions, working on identifying reasons you reach for a drink, discovering your own negative coping skills while combating them with positive coping skills, and learning tools, strategies and different mindsets to help you stay sober.

At Care Addiction Center, we embrace the spiritual principals of twelve step recovery philosophies to guide treatment for clients with limited support systems.

What Happens After Treatment

At the end of six weeks, you are not suddenly left on your own. Aftercare is an exciting and welcoming group which is involved in the community through picnics, golf outings, and sporting events in the area. Led by recovering individuals with more than 25 years of sobriety.

Aftercare is critical for a successful return to the community in which you live and is one of the most valuable assets of treatment. Aftercare is tailored to the needs of each individual while still gaining awareness of potential problems they could face early in recovery.

Aftercare meets once a week for a minimum of six months. Aftercare is tailored to the needs of each individual while still gaining awareness of potential problems they could face early in recovery. The Aftercare Group is one of the most valuable assets of our treatment.
